The Oilfield crashed as it is want to do. So, I came to Austin and started playing around town. After some encouragement, it seemed my first album might be in order.

Rust Weir recommended Larry Nye and the Lazy L Studio. Arrangements were made, and I showed up to record with a rock n’ roll drummer and country bass player. It shouldn’t be any big deal to knock out an album, right? After an hour or so in the studio, Larry pulled me aside and offered to produce my album if he could use his own studio musicians. I would have been crazy not to take him up on it. I must say that to person everyone rose to the occasion and helped create something greater than its parts. For me, it was magical. Those folks have my eternal gratitude, especially Larry. I learned so much from them.

This album was finished in 1993, when the radio stations were just switching over to cd’s. Of course, all I could afford was cassettes. Then times got weird and I reckoned the master was long lost. On a fluke, I called the folks who did the duplicating. They still had it. Amazing!
So, like the title itself, Good & Ready is finally going to be released.
From my heart to yours,
